Sports scholarship scheme is designed to help students develop their full sporting potential to train and compete at the highest level. Sports scholarships, grants and bursaries are awarded to international students on the basis of their athletic ability and potential.
These scholarships are now under drafting by the Physical Education Office. Details have yet to be confirmed. The amount of scholarships shall be decided by the admission committee.

Ming Chuan University Procedures for Outstanding Foreign Student Athletes’ Assistantship (under drafting by the Physical Education Office. Details have yet to be confirmed after approved by the Administrative Council Meeting)
Assistantship method:
(1) Students who are athletes of a national team or city team of their country, with excellent competition results, who have been admitted by the University will be subsidized for the full tuition and miscellaneous fees for the first academic year and accommodation fee for four years.
(2) From the second year of admission, students who have represented the University on 7 (or more) championship sports teams are eligible for this assistantship. Qualifying competitions are as follows:
1. A first-level Open Group of a National Collegiate Sports League competition organized by the Ministry of Education.
2. An Open Group of a National Collegiate Sports Championship organized by the Ministry of Education.
3. A Community Group of a sports championship organized by a National Sports Association.
(3) Students who participated in a competition listed in item (2) and won first to sixth place will receive a full subsidy of tuition and miscellaneous fees for one academic year. Those who participated but did not earn a place will receive a subsidy of half of the tuition and miscellaneous fees for one academic year.
(4) Those who meet the qualifications should prepare photocopies of supporting documents (such as national athlete certificates, competition awards certificates, competition participation proof or other certificates), and submit these to the Physical Education Office for application according to the deadline set before the start of each semester (Originals should be presented for reference.).
Regulation items:
(1) After enrollment, students must participate in the University sports team training and competitions. Students who take study leave or withdraw from the university in the middle of the semester will not be allowed to continue to receive this assistantship from the semester in which they take study leave or withdraw from the university. Such students should return the full amount of the assistantship they have already received for the semester. Those who take study leave or withdraw from the university without proper reason must repay half of the total assistantship funds received from enrollment to the semester in which they take study leave or withdraw from the university.
(2) Any student who violates university rules and is punished with a 1st Level Demerit or above must return the assistantship funds he/she has received that semester.
(3) If any of the supporting documents submitted by the applicant are proven to be forged, altered, used under guise, or fraudulent, an applicant who has not been admitted will be disqualified from admission; one who has been admitted will be expelled and no academic certificates will be issued. Such a student bears legal responsibility.
(4) If the above violations are found after student is graduated from the University, the student’s diploma will be revoked and an announcement will be made to cancel the student’s graduation qualifications. The fraudulent documents mentioned above will not be returned.
Ming Chuan University Procedures for Outstanding Foreign Student Athletes Living Expense Assistantship (under drafting by the Physical Education Office. Details have yet to be confirmed after approved by the Administrative Council Meeting)
Assistantship Method:
(1) Students are eligible to apply for a monthly living expense subsidy up to NTD. 20,000 from their first academic year of studying at MCU.
(2) From the second year of admission, students can continuously apply for the monthly living expense subsidy as long as they have represented the University on 7 (or more) championship sports teams with outstanding performance in sports competitions. Qualifying competitions are as follows:
<1> A first-level of a National Collegiate Sports League competition organized by the Ministry of Education.
<2> An Open Group of a National Collegiate Sports Championship organized by the Ministry of Education.
<3> A Community Group of a sports championship organized by a National Sports Association.
(3) The quota for undergraduate or graduate student subsidies is 6 for football and 6 for basketball, per academic year.
(4) Assistantship application year limit: A maximum of four academic years for students in bachelors’ programs (five for students in the Department of Architecture) and a maximum of two academic years for students in masters’ programs. Students who encounter a special situation may extend their assistantship once their application is approved by the Physical Education Office.
(5) Students who meet the qualifications need to prepare the required documents mentioned below and send them to the Physical Education Office during the application period: student ID of current semester, and hard copy of related documentation of competition participation (Original should be presented for reference.).
(6) The assistantship will be transferred monthly to the bank accounts of those students whose applications are approved by the Office.
